Kaya and Hora formed Rudolf Steiner in 2001 and released two demo tapes, before being signed to Mana's label Midi:Nette and being renamed to Schwarz Stein in 2002. They released singles Perfect Garden, New Vogue Children and Current, and toured with Moi Dix Mois. In 2003 they released their first full-length album New Vogue Children, and later their second album Artificial Hallucination in 2004. The band disbanded shortly after.

Kaya and Hora both went on pursue solo projects. Hora started his solo career in 2005 and has since released 13 albums/mini-albums. Kaya started his solo career in 2006, made his major debut in 2008 and has since released 5 full-length albums. In 2006 Hora and Kaya collaborated as another cell and released an album of the same name, and have since collaborated e.g. on Kaya's albums.

Schwarz stein reformed in 2014 and have semi-actively released music and toured since.
